Climate change has affected coral reefs around the world. In recent times, the problem of coral bleaching has occurred more frequently. This course fills a vacant niche by bringing together available scientific information on coral bleaching at different space and time scales from the deep geological record through to future projections. By focussing on the different aspects of the coral bleaching phenomenon from various documents, this course highlights the vulnerability of coral reefs in a changing climate. This course describes the ongoing climate change phenomenon and its impact on coral reef life. In particular, the aspects that will be discussed in this course includes ecosystems and climate change. The effects of climate change on coral reefs can be carried out by monitoring and determining the resilience capacity of coral reefs to these phenomena. In addition, aspects of future expectations, implications for conservation and mitigation measures are also discussed
