This course provides knowledge in the basic principles of genetics and its application to fish breeding. It also discuss in detail on planning a breeding program for stock improvement and production of new improved varieties or strains. Student will be exposed to several breeding techniques used for stock enhancement. In addition, it also explain the use and application of molecular marker in stock enhancement, stock manipulation, stock identification and also detection of mutation in breeding programs as well as stock improvement through breeding programs.
